Hey Dog Lovers,

Thank you for taking the time to read the weekly email – it means a lot to me.

Membership Cuts

I want to start this email with the less fun stuff.

As you know, in the KC Dog Club we pride ourselves as being a social club that stands alone from Meetup.com – we use Meetup as a marketing tool, membership management tool, and event calendar – but we are much more than most Meetup groups. We are an independent social club with some basic membership guidelines (www.kcdogclub.com/guidelines/), which basically boils down to 3 things:

  • Be friendly to all members
  • Participate regularly
  • Don’t hide your identity

At the beginning of each month organizers go through the membership and remove members who haven’t attended within the last 3 months (1 month for brand new members), members who have changed their profile name/photo to one that does not meet guidelines (we reach out multiple times and try to talk to these people first, of course), and members who have no-showed for 2+ events (remember to change your RSVP when your plans change).

This month, we lost a few long-time members – but don’t be sad for them! Any member who is removed is ALWAYS welcome to rejoin KC Dog Club at any time (as long as they agree to the membership guidelines).

With each of the long time members we lost, Lauren Caldwell and I worked long and hard to convince and help members to update their profiles – many said yes they would… But later decided not to. Others said they would only make a temporary update under specific circumstances, such as when they hosted an event. Others never replied to our messages for multiple consecutive months.

As of a few months ago, all new members will have proper profile photo before being approved to join our club.

Yes, you may notice that there are still a few members whose photos do not meet guidelines, but we’re working with each of these people to get an updated photo (Meetup can be a pain in the butt sometimes).

On to the fun stuff – This week’s Schedule of Events

Become a KC Dog Club Sponsoring Member!

Sponsoring Members make a small $20 donation to KC Dog Club, which helps support various group activities and incidental needs. If you’re interested in becoming a Sponsoring Member or making any size of donation to support the group, get details here –www.kcdogclub.com/donate/

Members Only Facebook Group

If you’re not already there, be sure to join the ALL NEW members only Facebook group here – www.facebook.com/groups/kcdogclub/ – NOTE: If your name on Facebook is different than in KC Dog Club, send Travis or Lauren a message so we know it’s you requesting to join the Facebook group.

This Facebook group is a great way to quickly share dog related info, ask questions, and quickly schedule an impromptu get-together outside of the official KC Dog Club calendar.

Membership Attendance Milestones

Congratulations to members who hit membership attendance milestones (250, 100, 50, 25, 10) this week! Visit their profile pages to send them a personal “congratulations” message.

100

  • Lauren Caldwell – Lauren attended 5 KC Dog Club events last week, pushing her over the 100 mark!

Curious how many KC Dog Club events you have attended? Take a look at the spreadsheet – j.mp/26LxG6R

See you all soon!
